• This level builds on the skills developed in previous levels and introduces some long vowel sounds, especially the a_e, i_e, o_e and e_e patterns, and ee, ea and or. It also introduces ce and ge.

• The books are much more sophisticated and longer, with a mix of fiction and non-fiction titles.

• Follow-up activities heavily focus on writing skills, with a range of genres introduced.
